Celebrity green patron and vocal organics supporter Sheherazade Goldsmith talks to Kate Collyns about the practicalities of being an eco-mum – and how we can change the world through consumer power
Sheherazade Goldsmith didn’t start life as an eco warrior. Having been a model, fashionista and actress, in 1999 she married Zac Goldsmith (at that time Ecologist editor) and then while expecting their first daughter she began to wonder what was going into her food.
“I became interested when I became pregnant with Uma, now eight, and then suddenly became very concerned with what I was eating, what I was washing with and so on, and the effect it would have on the baby,” says Sheherazade. “When your child is born you start to worry about a zillion other aspects too, such as toys, food and toiletries.”
